A blank of 630 × 100 × 23 does not come off a 630 × 100 × 23 board. It is sawn longer, ripped wider and planed down from thicker. 23 mm looks like 26 — with the 4 mm the planer takes it needs 27, and what is produced is 32. In one chair that is seventeen per cent of the timber.
Here you see one leg. In Estifex you enter a chair — four legs, four stretchers, a seat panel, plus the sanding and the packaging — and you get a price per chair, a total for twelve, a cutting list for the run and an offer with a number. This page gives cubic metres; an estimate gives a price.
The same, out of the same code. If this page and an estimate ever said something different, one of them would be wrong — so there is only one rule, and this is it.
Because a price needs your rate, your material group, your overhead and your profit, and none of that belongs on an open page. Cubic metres are a fact; the price is your business.
